General Stuff / I conquered the Quesarrito.
« on: February 26, 2014, 08:36:19 PM »

A few weeks ago my co-worker and I went to the Chipotle down the street with the goal of each getting our hands on a Quesarrito.  We went at an off hour so we wouldn't hold the line up but we were disappointed when we got to the counter and not only did they have no idea what we were talking about but the 3+ minutes we spent trying to explain it just didn't get us anywhere.  Once a line started forming behind us we went au natural and vowed to return another time and succeed.

In the meantime we did a little research and found that while the Quesarrito is still rather elusive there seems to be a 50-50 split on how it's made.  Method 1 is where they basically make a giant quesadilla with two large tortillas and then wrap the ingredients inside like a traditional burrito.  These are the ones you see where you they charge you for a burrito + a quesadilla.  Method 2 is where they make their regular quesadilla (which is a folded over tortilla full of cheese) and they open it back up and then put the ingredients inside with all the melty cheese.  From what I've gathered there isn't an up-charge for this.

Today, at 2PM we went back armed with the knowledge of the two ways and hoped that this time we could enjoy great success.

When we walked in there was no line and I went up to the young guy behind the counter and proclaimed, "I would like a Quesarrito!"  He laughed and replied, "Let me get someone who knows how to make that."  Yes!  The little manager lady came over, who tried to hard to understand our explanations last time and she was on the ball.  It's like Chipotle HQ sent out a corporate memo or something.  The girl was was warming the tortillas last time was in the kitchen behind and was just laughing.

She expertly demonstrated to the young man how to assemble method 1.  Yes!  i wish I had thought to film it, but honestly, you can find enough videos on YouTube.  The total came to $10.55.

When I got back to my office I put the bag down and this was the first thing I saw.  I think the lady at the register gave me that bag on purpose.

Unbagged.  The foil has been tagged "CQ" for "Chicken Burrito/Quesadilla".  I think the topping guy just invented this code on the spot because he hesitated before he started writing.

A few bites in.

Even after that first bite it's like no other Chipotle burrito you have ever had.  The cheese, generally kept cold is warm and melty.  It has kept the tortillas warm and soft and both of them are just glued together in perfect harmony.  Because there isn't any cold cheese in the center the insides stay a little warmer than they normally would.

About halfway through.

At this point I'm starting to feel it.  I have been known to eat a Chipotle burrito and an order of soft tacos back-to-back but this was looking like it might be my downfall.

The last inch or so.

The last two-three bites.

Ugh, I feel like I ate a herd of baby hippos...  But it was definitely worth it for the best Chipotle burrito I have ever had.

General Stuff / Hello!
« on: December 19, 2012, 10:02:17 AM »
Hi, I'm Iain.  I was invited by Will, I met him when our two guilds in SWTOR merged together back in Jan/Feb.  Most of us moved over to Guild Wars 2 and we played there as well.  We also played some Diablo 3 together.

I have been playing WoW since launch but took a break in November of last year after getting pretty burned out.  GW2 got boring so I decided to pick up MoP and start playing about a month ago.  So far I'm really loving the expansion, this is definitely the best one that Blizzard has put out so far.
